Come meet our Director, Ms. Eloma, & see our wonderful center
Babies feel safe, secure, and happy in this classroom. Warm, caring teachers bond and develop trust with children. Each child has a primary caregiver, your main point of contact, to guide your child’s cognitive, physical, and social-emotional development.
In this program, children experience:
Nurturing, safe classroom environments
Educational toys & stimulating activities
A predictable daily routine to help babies feel secure & calm
Who is in the Infant Room?
The children in our Infant Room range from 6 weeks to about 9-10 months old; between 9-10 months and 17 months they may go between the Infant and Mobile Baby Rooms as they develop motor skills and want to explore more.
As state regulations stipulate, there is 1 care team staff person for every 3 babies. We are fortunate to have an extra staff person in the middle of the day to help give as much attention as possible to all of our little ones.
Who are Mobile Babies?
Once a baby begins to crawl or pill themselves up, it’s a sign that they may soon be ready to move on to the Mobile Baby Classroom!
Mobile babies can control their heads, crawl, hold their own bottles, and even pick up and feed themselves finger foods. We will work with your child to develop these skills as they grow and prepare to transition to the Toddler Classroom.
Mobile babies develop motor skills through play and activities in our classroom. They are encouraged to drink milk in the drinking chairs instead of being fed by an adult. When new babies see that their other friends are eating food by themselves, they too will start to eat finger food and try to do things more independently. These efforts will also help to develop their fine motor skills. You may see more food around their chairs than on the tray, but that is all part of the development process!
Mobile babies enjoy their activities and love to be in a group. They love to sing, clap, and share with friends. Babies are still on their own schedules, some taking 2 naps per day, others only 1; as your child gets older we will encourage shifting to 1 nap to prepare them for the Toddler Classroom.
The sounds babies make gradually become simple words. We try to avoid using the word ‘no,’ and instead prefer statements like ‘We eat food, we do not throw food.’
Our teachers will also use basic baby sign language for ‘more,’ ‘milk,’ and ‘please.’
Every day your baby will be read to, participate in ‘circle time,’ have ‘tummy time,’ and have wonderful experiences with music and sound.
We also love to go outside for stroller rides and enjoy fresh air when the weather is nice.
We place a strong emphasis on all areas of development – cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and fine/gross motor skills.
Above all, we will give your child a tremendous amount of love and the best care possible.
Diapers are changed every 2 hours, and as often as otherwise needed.
Each child has their own crib and fitted sheet provided by WLCC. We do laundry often.
All children are placed on their backs to sleep, unless a note is brought from your child’s doctor; if your child requires any other item in their crib other than themselves, state regulations require a note from your child’s pediatrician
Energy and excitement are a natural part of growth and learning. We channel that energy into positive learning experiences, giving toddlers room to move and explore. Most 2-year-olds are filled with energy and an innate curiosity about the world around them. They’re also quickly developing their sense of independence. This active classroom environment engages little hands and mind to form a foundation for later learning and social skills.
In this program, children are provided with:
Stimulating classroom environments and outdoor play
Immersive learning experiences
Educational toys and activities
Variety of tactile learning materials
The children in our Toddler Room range from 15 months to 24 months; toddlers are becoming more independent each day whilst still needing a strong connection and continued reinforcement from a caregiver.
In our Toddler classroom we strive to follow a routine each day. Below is the typical daily schedule that we follow:
While in our Toddler Classroom your child will begin to shift from being an egocentric baby to engaging with their peers in interactive play in cooperative situations.
This age is monumental in both cognitive and physical development. We place a strong emphasis on all areas of development – cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and fine/gross motor skills.
Above all, we will give your child a tremendous amount of love and the best care possible.
We focus on learning body parts, colors, letters, numbers, using table manners, brushing teeth, washing hands, and learning new words; we reinforce how to use words to express needs/wants/feeling rather than whining.
We also use our Toddler classroom to transition children away from bottles and any pacifier use; we encourage parents to maintain the good habits established at WLCC during the week while at home.
Engaging and nurturing your child in preparation for kindergarten, all while having fun with friends! We help children learn to work with others, follow directions, self-regulate, follow routines, and develop the self-help skills that all independent learners need.
In this program, children will discover:
Fostering independence
Cooperation & communication skills
Hands-on learning
Literacy and number concepts
The children in our Preschool Classroom range from 2 years old to 5 years old; preschoolers are discovering their independence but still rely on adults for help with many basic needs, as well as security and comfort. The preschool classroom setting helps take your child from potty training to kindergarten readiness! As they approach kindergarten they will be capable of taking on more responsibility and find pride in being our ‘classroom helpers.’
The preschool day is filled with fun and exciting activities that we are sure your children will share with you at the end of each day.
A child's physical and psychological development is considered throughout the learning environment and across the activities.
In additional to learning through play and the engaging seasonal and fun themes, structured learning becomes an important part of your child’s experience.
We provide many opportunities for the children to develop both their fine and gross motor skills, self-confidence, and positive feelings towards learning.
